Whale Watching At Head Of Bight

The Head of Bight a site of immense cultural and environmental significance which is located 78 kilometers west of Yalata and 20 Kilometers to the east of Nullarbor Roadhouse. It is famous for its land based viewing of the magnificent Southern Right Whale between June and October since around100 Southern Right Whales frequent this area of the South Australian coastline to breed and give birth to whale calves.  The whole family will be enjoying watching a variety of behaviour including tail slapping, breaching, blow holing and rolling belly up. Other species occasionally seen include Australian Sea lions and the Great White Shark. At other months the Bight is still worth a visit since provides views of the Bunda Cliffs to the west and the giant sand dunes and long beach’s to the east.

Whale watching has physiologic effect to people watching them behave in their own habitat and as well as used for educational purposes. Some people say that whale viewing is better when the water has a bit of a chop in it. So bringing your family or friends here is a perfect way of having rest from a busy life, since it has a soothing effect and a resting feeling to be here.
